Spiritual Ambassadors Day, Denstone Church -19th October 2023
The worship team joined a ‘Spiritual Ambassadors Day at Denstone Church alongside the Saints Academies. The children got to work with Louisa Harrop (our school advisor for Christian Distinctiveness) to develop their important role in school.
During the day, the children had the opportunity to gain the knowledge on how to plan a Collective Worship, develop prayer spaces, make some resources and develop jobs they are responsible for around school.
Operation Holiday Hope, Renew Church-December 2023
The worship team were very fortunate to receive an invitation from Jordan (our Christian Youth Worker) to take part in a Christmas project ‘Operation Holiday Hope’, at the Renew Church in Uttoxeter.
The team had an amazing day, where they had to find the true meaning of Christmas! This included fun activities and even an escape room! To finalise the day, the children had to choose a small script based on the meaning of Christmas and present it to the other worship teams. They did such a wonderful job and are a credit to St Augustine’s.
Following on from Operation Holiday Hope, Jordan visited us and kindly delivered a chocolate selection box for everyone in school. The worship team presented their small worship to share the true meaning of Christmas.
Spiritual Ambassador Day
On Monday 10th January 2022, the worship team took part in a Spiritual Ambassador Day at All Saints Church in Denstone.
The worship teams from our three schools came together for this special day and were led by Alex Wolvers in a day full of creativity and planning!
They learned about prayer spaces and took part in a range of activities that can be used back at their schools for areas of reflection and prayer spaces.
They also planned a worship with the support of Alex and were introduced to some new songs that can be used in worship.
They also gained a greater understanding of what worship is, where we can worship and why we do it.
Lots of ‘Big Questions’ were put to the children and they were encouraged to discuss with each other their thoughts and views.
Linda from our Local Academy Council spent the day with us as did Rev. Gary. Julia, the Chair of our LAC and Jenny, a parent LAC member also popped in for the celebration at the end of the day where certificates were handed out.
All in all a fab day where pupils and adults learnt a great deal!
Worship group meeting.
On 28th June Mrs Walker, Mrs Roche and John Harrison (LAC) and our Worship group met with the Worship team at All Saints Denstone. They discussed what activities they had been involved in this year and what each schools core values and vision meant to them. They also planned joint activities for next year. Everyone spoke very well and was involved. The children planned to contact each other via email and to plan to Skype each other in the Autumn term.
Everyone shared a biscuit, a drink and welcomed each other saying ’Shalom’.
It was lovely to see how even though each school had differing visions and core values, their belief and strength through Christianity was woven through everything they do.
