St Augustine’s vision launch 2026
We launched our school vision together, ensuring we understood its meaning and that we are living out the vision in our daily lives. We also discussed how our core values of love, hope and friendship weave into our whole school vision.
At St Augustine’s CE Academy, every member of this special family is loved and supported to flourish.
Our ambitious curriculum enables our children to have the courage and perseverance to challenge injustice for ‘With God nothing is impossible.’
The parable of the Mustard Seed links to our vision for the children and staff at St Augustine’s, who are nurtured and enabled to grow and flourish through the teaching and care they receive in school. They are prepared for the next stages of their life’s journey – at middle school and beyond.
The mustard seed starts by growing strong, deep roots. With the perfect conditions it grows, becomes strong and attracts birds to rest among its branches. Like the tree that the seed in the parable becomes, we aspire for our school to be a place where everyone feels at home; for us all to become the people that God calls us to be.
We had a wonderful time creating flourishing trees, keyrings, mustard seed cakes and planting our own tiny mustard seeds.
Children at St Augustine’s learn that prayer is a way for them to talk to God. They understand that this can be done anywhere at anytime.
In our prayer areas we have practical activities that the children can engage with. For example, writing or drawing something in a tray of sand that they want to say sorry for.
Worship leaders took part in a session at All Saint’s Church. They had a wonderful day working with our Christian Distinctiveness Advisor. The focus this year was prayer. Children considered lots of different ways to pray. They thought about the categories: me, others, please, thank you and sorry. Children loved confetti prayers, they took a pinch of confetti and put it into a central place; while they were doing this they thought about who they wanted to pray for and why. They have now set this activity up in worship areas in school.
Another favourite prayer was the ‘love heart’ prayer. Children put a love heart on their tongue and waited for it to dissolve. While it was dissolving children thought about who they loved, who they found hard to love and people who don’t know that they are loved.
This is our School,
Let peace dwell here,
Let the rooms be full of contentment,
Let love abide here,
Love of one another,
Love of mankind,
Love of God,
Amen
