“A Christian school is one in which the atmosphere has that kind of openness about it, that sense that people are worth spending time with, that people need time to grow…. and loving attention.” Dr Rowan Williams
Baptism at Draycott Church.
This morning (28th January), the children went to Draycott Church to learn about why Christians are baptised. They have been learning in class about Jesus’ baptism in the river Jordan by John the Baptist. Reverend Les Rees took the service and explained what happens during a baptism and the children acted it out, with parents, Godparents and baby Millie!
The service, with the blessing of the Millie with the holy water and the Godparent’s pledges to Millie.
The Godparents received certificates and candles to remind them of what God expects of them in their roles as Godparents to baby Millie.
Outdoor Live Nativity
On Monday 16th December the whole school delivered a fabulous Christmas nativity production. We were so proud of the children and staff who all worked so hard to bring this fantastic production together! We had sheep kindly brought by the Salmon Family, and due to Big Ears the donkey being unwell, a pony called James played the part of the donkey and carried Mary beautifully to Bethlehem. The children sung beautifully and it was the perfect start to Christmas week!
Class 1’s Christmas Trip to the Adventure Farm
Class 1 enjoyed their annual Christmas trip to the Adventure farm at Tatenhill. They met Father Christmas with a North Pole adventure, had a tractor and trailer ride, and got involved with a nativity in the animal barn. With time to play and lots of Christmas activities to participate in we hope the children enjoyed this pre-Christmas treat!
This trip was funded by the PTA and we are incredibly thankful to them for this and all of their help throughout the year.
The children were so well behaved all day and showed kindness and friendship to lots of other children from other schools all day! So much so that the whole class got a certificate in worship the following day for showing our three core values and being great ambassadors for the school!! Well done Class 1!!

Open Door Event at St Werburghs Hanbury
The children spent Tuesday 3rd December at Hanbury Church making Christingles. The children had a wonderful day! Many thanks to everyone who helped make it such a lovely day!
Diwali Dancing
The children had a fabulous opportunity this week to learn some Diwali dancing from Wise Moves Dance School! Diwali is something the children have learnt about during their Religious Education and the chance to express the Ramayana through dance and movement was fabulous.
The children enjoyed learning about Rama and Sita.
The teacher Dee, had some lovely feedback for us at the end of the performance!
A massive thank you to one of the loveliest schools I have ever been blessed to have worked with! The children were so polite and worked so hard. Their warmth and love shown to me has been evident as soon as I enter the school. I have no words except THANK YOU SO MUCH, I can’t wait to come back again!!! Dee
