STEAM – Maths Focus
At St Augustine’s, we highlight the importance of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics by giving children the opportunities to participate in STEAM education. The teaching of these subject areas is more integrated, encouraging children to engage with these subjects.
We have found that by integrating maths with other subjects, children are successful in building skills that will benefit them for a lifetime, and have fun whilst doing it. To improve learning outcomes, we aim to teach traditional maths problems in a more integrated way, allowing children to connect the concepts to real-life situations. These opportunities are included frequently in our teaching, alongside termly STEAM mornings, each with a particular focus.

SUAT supports and leads in the set-up of new academies joining the partnership. The services provided by the central support function cover both educational and non-educational support. In terms of educational support, SUAT is linked to the School of Education of Staffordshire University, which is an outstanding ITT provider.
