Curriculum Statement of Intent

The Saints Academies passionately believe that firm foundations in Early Years are fundamental in developing a love of learning, independence and confidence. This is achieved through offering a stimulating environment which encourages imagination, resilience and perseverance through play and exploration. We use creativity to engage and inspire our pupil’s in order to develop their knowledge and understanding.

Our curriculum incorporates the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum. This is further enhanced by delivering a range of exciting and challenging experiences and opportunities which are knowledge rich and sequential. These are designed to inspire and motivate all children as individuals through a holistic and innovative approach.  We want our pupils to leave our academies with a passion for subjects areas, creating little scientists, historians and sports stars, to name but a few!

Our passions also lie in teaching the children about our unique and beautiful surroundings. In our rolling programme we include units on our local area that are linked to different subjects. Our localities are steeped in history and we feel it is an integral part of our curriculum offer to provide teaching and learning about this. We also want to teach our pupils about our wonderfully diverse world, celebrating all cultures and respecting other’s beliefs and practices.

We celebrate the uniqueness of everyone as children of God. Our shared vision is to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where children can develop spiritual, academic, social and emotional growth. We believe the Saints academies are caring and loving schools with a family feel. The children feel safe and valued and are aspirational about their own successes.

We strive for every child to be spirited, adaptable critical thinkers and to flourish in a rapidly changing world. At St Augustine’s we are passionate about enrichment and believe this is the key to success. We provide our pupils with amazing opportunities through our bespoke 50 things and careers programmes. Through the curriculum, we aim to prepare pupils for the opportunities, experiences and responsibilities of adult life. Our careers programme is something we are proud of, it opens our pupil’s minds to a wide variety of future career options and an understanding of how certain subjects in school link to these jobs. It is our aim to lay a firm foundation for future learning, to have the requisite skills to be successful, independent and motivated learners in readiness for their next stage of education and beyond. We want to prepare them for later life, giving them the confidence and aspiration to achieve their dreams.

‘Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.’ Henry Ford.
