We joined in NSPCC Number Day again this year by dressing up in recognition of the theme ‘Dress Up for Digits’. We had popular outfits such as our TT Rockstar character, calculator, dice, domino and footballer. We also had children dress up in patterned clothes, t-shirts covered in numbers and shapes, and others attaching Numicon pieces to themselves too. We supported the cause by giving a donation to help those in need. Each child voted for their favourite costume of a child in their class. After counting the votes, we gave out prizes to those who were best dressed in each class!
To also help with our understanding of helping the cause, we invited our grown-ups in to join us and spent the morning participating in activities linked to our recent learning and revision of aspects within our current units. These activities were created by the NSPCC themselves and were aimed at the different ages. Below is a list of examples for each of our classes.
Nursery & Reception:
- Making a foot ruler
- Making equal amounts of cupcakes
- Acting out number stories using frogs
- Creating dotty butterflies by using numicon
- Counting how many exercises we could do in 10 seconds

We had a lovely morning practising our maths learning with our grown-ups and we enjoyed using a range of objects to help us apply these skills. It was fun to show our grown-ups how we use different equipment to help us with our learning and it was like we were the teachers!
Overall, we raised nearly £60 for NSPCC Number Day and feel proud of our effort in helping other children.
We joined in NSPCC Number Day this year by dressing up as something associated with both number and maths as a whole. We had outfits such as a calculator, domino, clock, TT Rockstar, playing card, dice and money and supported the cause by giving a donation. We had prizes for the best costume in each class too!
To also help with our understanding of helping the cause, we spent the morning outside as a school participating in activities linked to our recent learning and revision of aspects within our current units. Completed activities included:
- Nursery – throwing beanbags into hoops and counting aloud how many landed inside
- Reception – creating part-whole models to work out addition calculations using natural objects
- Year 1 – creating number lines with natural objects and comparison number sentences
- Year 2 – creating arrays with natural objects and chalk to solve multiplication and division calculations
- Years 3 & 4 – using place value grids to work out multiplying and dividing by 10
We had a lovely morning outside practising our maths learning as a whole-school and we enjoyed using a range of objects to help us apply these skills.
Overall, we raised over £50 for NSPCC Number Day and feel proud of our effort in helping other children.
