Spring 1 included lots of exciting opportunities and activities. We have been looking at instruction writing for hand washing (linked to our PSHE) and character descriptions and setting descriptions based on The Gruffalo. Maths has been on place value within 20 in Year 1, looking at tens and ones, comparing numbers and objects, ordering numbers and objects, one more and one less and teen numbers. For Year 2, it has been multiplication and division, learning about equal and unequal groups, sharing, grouping, arrays and multiplication sentences. Science has been all about exploring everyday materials by identifying, describing and grouping materials based on their properties. We moved onto history this half term where we looking at people who had changed the world: Louis Braille, Florence Nightingale and Rosa Parks. We drew blindfolded, used a Braille machine, ordered events and role-played. We absolutely loved this topic! In RE we had the key question ‘What does it mean to be a Jew?’, so we learnt about the Torah, a Synagogue, the Seder plate and lots more. We started our new class book ‘Flat Stanley’ and are really enjoying it!
