This half term in Class 2, we have been up to lots both at home and school. Our main theme was traditional tales.
Firstly, we looked at The Gingerbread Man. To help us with our learning we baked and decorated our own gingerbread men, wrote instructions and built a vessel out of different materials to help the gingerbread man cross the river.
We then looked at Jack and the Beanstalk. For this, we wrote some interesting stories about what we would do if we found some magic beans.
Next up it was Little Red Riding Hood. We wrote letters to Grandma as the Big Bad Wolf, re-wrote the end of the story to make it different and then weaved baskets to help Little Red Riding Hood deliver her goodies to Grandma.
Then we looked at The Three Billy Goats Gruff. For this, we wrote the story and built bridges out of different materials to see if they were strong enough for the goats to walk on.
Finally, we had a go at writing our very own traditional tales, which were fantastic!
Alongside all of this, we learnt about addition and subtraction (Year 1) and multiplication and division (Year 2) in maths, the UK in geography, materials in science, e-books in computing, Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection in RE and so much more!
